About Us
Our Story
Oh Ramona was dreamed up between the bustling streets of Melbourne where founder Cara Lanyon was born and raised, and the lush forests of the American Pacific Northwest where she spent the better part of the last decade.
Cara envisaged an inclusive fashion boutique that showcases Australian women, LGBTQIA+, refugee, and First Nations designers, alongside hand-picked creators from the Pacific Northwest and one-off vintage finds that invite discovery and help you celebrate your uniqueness.
Named for Ramona, the loner sheep who eventually found her place amongst the flock, it’s an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome; designed from the start to accommodate and celebrate every body. Offering sizes AU 6 – 28+, and catering to all body shapes, we believe your clothing should reflect and inspire you – make you feel like your best self. It should be fun, and not take itself too seriously. Above all, it should be comfortable and easy to wear.
Our Hawthorn VIC boutique offers apparel (sizes 6 – 28+), accessories and lifestyle products in an inviting setting with personalised service, large and private fitting rooms and cozy nooks to enjoy our vinyl collection.
Oh Ramona also has an online store shipping Australia-wide, and occasionally does retail pop-ups and markets across Melbourne.
Our Values
Oh Ramona is a woman-owned business that believes in freedom and justice for women and non-binary people.
We donate a portion of our quarterly revenue to organizations that support women and survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Inclusivity
Every body is beautiful and everybody deserves to look and feel special, every day. We offer an inclusive size range and a safe space to come and check out some cute looks, try on in privacy and comfort, get some styling tips, and discover ways to make your own space beautiful.
Accessibility
The (future) space is designed from the outset to be easy and safe for everyone. There’s a range of price points, making fashion more affordable for all.
Lifting up women and marginalized groups
We showcase designers and creators that are women, non-binary, LGBTQIA+, First Nations and refugees. We are committed to hiring diverse talent and working with diverse suppliers. We donate a portion of our revenue to organizations that support and protect women and marginalized people.
Sustainability
We offer an alternative to fast fashion through thoughtfully selected, locally produced pieces and unique, quality vintage finds.
Wherever possible we use recycled and recyclable packaging to ship your treasures to you safely.
Community
Oh Ramona aims to be a vital part of our community, finding synergies with local businesses and artists. We love to connect people and add value to their lives beyond a new dress or pair of earrings.
Our Team
Founder Cara Lanyon is a musician, podcaster and fashion curator. She developed her style on the streets and stages of inner Melbourne, where she played in indie bands through the 2000s and 2010s, before relocating to Portland, Oregon, where the dream of the 90s was well and truly still alive.
She’s passionate about bringing to Australia the best that the US, and particularly the Northwest, has to offer: a more inclusive size offering, stunning handcrafted jewellery, a treasure trove of vintage apparel and a thriving indie music scene. She is also passionate about lifting up local women, LGBTQIA+, First Nations and refugee creators, and offering unique ways for every woman to bring beautiful things into her daily life.
